Sylvester Stallone's Training

At 60 years old, Sylvester Stallone has maintained a fantastic build throughout the years. With the recent releases of Rocky and Rambo, Stallone had to ensure he was in good shape. Now comes his latest movie, The Expendables, starring almost every major action hero from the past 20 years.

Sylvester Stallone workout routine is pretty hardcore. He once dieted down to 155lbs by eating less than 200 calories per day. Then he rapidly added 20lbs of pure muscle mass. He's one of the hardest workers in Hollywood and it shows.

Workout Routine

Sylvester Stallone's workout includes a six day routine with morning and afternoon sessions. He does 3-4 exercises for each body part listed below. He does 8-12 reps for 3-4 sets.

Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Morning: Chest, back, abs
Afternoon: Shoulders, arms, abs

Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday
Morning: Calves, thighs
Afternoon: Rear deltoids, traps, abs

For his abs routine, Stallone does a circuit that includes situps, leg raises, side leg raises, and side bends. He performs 50 reps of each exercise and repeats the circuit 5 times.

Diet

Stallone's diet is very restrictive at times. While he was training for Victory, Stallone only ate 200 calories per day...all protein with an occasional baked potato. He was on the verge of fainting. For Rocky III, he cut down to 155lbs by eating 10 egg whites and a burnt piece of toast. Finally, it's rumored Stallone did a vegetarian diet that allowed him to lose 7lbs in 2 weeks.

While Stallone does these diets for his movies, he realizes that a balanced diet is the best approach.
